Queen Elizabeth II has died

The death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 was one of the most significant events in British history. Not only did it mark the end of an era when Britain was at the center of world affairs, it also ushered in an age of uncertainty and doubt about the country’s place in the world. She had been on the throne for over 75 years, and was the longest-reigning British monarch in history. Her death led to a period of mourning across the country and around the world.
The Queen, who had been suffering from ill health for some time, died peacefully in her sleep at Sandringham House in Norfolk. Her body was taken to London later that day and placed on public view. She was succeeded by her eldest son Charles.
Her Majesty will be buried in her beloved Windsor, in the King George VI memorial chapel.
